How can I see if a TextExpander monitored/remembers password fields?

Hello I would like to install a text expander called PhraseExpress.

PhraseExpress text prediction feature watches out for repetitive text patterns and offers to auto-complete such phrases. But I am hesitating to install it to the potential risk that my passwords become exposed.

It is a well known program and would probably okay. But is there anyone who can reassure me, and are there any precautions I can take?

I don't use this software myself but here is some info that may help you.

The software testimonials suggests that Kaspersky use it - Awards and Testimonials
If this is true i would expect it to be secure.

You can also take a look at the manual here - PhraseExpress v10 Documentation

It states:

Password input is not recorded if the password doesn't contain a space or punctuation mark.

No idea about that particular program, but in general, a propertly configured firewall is an excelent security precaution against such leaks. In the event that the program actually collects private data, firewalls will block them from sending them anyware.

I know that it's an advanced topic and most likely 90% users will not know how to configure and use them, but worth noting at least.

I write my passwords down on a piece of paper, then hide that paper .... works for me, but maybe not for those who share the same computers
