How can I see what "Starting Windows" is hanging on?

I'm getting arbitrary freezes on "Starting Windows," detailed in another thread.

They do NOT cause BSODs and do NOT generate events in the Event Viewer.

Is there any way I can switch from the goofy "pulsing Windows logo" screen to see what's actually happening as Windows loads so I can see if there's a commonality between crashes? Like I can leave the default BIOS boot screen to watch the various elements boot when I turn the computer on?

Just for fun, I'm attaching my SF tool results and the link to my Speccy profile:

Sadly, Soluto, er, crashes. It worked a few times, but now hangs on "Loading..." when I try to boot it up.

Hello,

When in windows, disable some of the startup programs and services that you dont need via msconfig.
- Click Start>Run
- Type in 'msconfig'

- Untick the programs that you dont want to start when your PC does and click apply.

- Untick and services that you dont want to start whenyour PC does and click apply
- Click ok and then restart your PC.

If this doesnt work then start the PC in safe mode and see how long it takes for the PC to start then.
Start your computer in safe mode

It could be a RAM issue. Download and run memtest to test the RAM: Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic

Oh, I've got 50+ hours of Memcheck86+ under my belt at this point, and I've turned the startup services on and off a few times (leaving most of them off). No difference with the arbitrary "Starting Windows" freezes.

I was hoping that there was actually some sort of log generated by Windows, or a text display I could watch whilst it loads, that would give me a clue.

Run a chkdsk as well. It could also be your hard disk.
