Here is what I am trying to do so please feel free to tell me Im crazy or it's not possible.

I have two computers one is in the basement on 24/7 its my game/server Ultimate x64

The second is my upstairs Imac.

I do not wish to have redundent files on both machines, so I would like to have the iMacs win 7 (32 or x64) use the same files and folders from downstairs.

If I have to install applications on it im fine, but I would like to keep as much as possible running off the downstairs folders that I placed on d:\ drive. (all my Documnets, movies, music, etc I moved to a new folder on d:\User

If anyone has experience with this please let me know if Im wasting time on this adventure?

+Rep waiting for the knowledgeable ones :)

Roamin profiles don't apply here. You are describing server storage - which you can emulate with your setup. The "server" will have to be on to use it, of course.

Use Libraries - add the folders from the "server machine" to the "client"

or

Map a folder as a network drive on the "server" machine.

In your User folder (..\Users\DorfDad\...) right click properties on each folder you wish to treat this way.

Select location.

Browse to the mapped drive, OK

Select Move

Select Yes to move existing files.

I may be a bit fuzzy in the detail, but this process is fairly simple and I think you will see it clearly once you begin.

Don't go overboard and try setting system folders up this way - Temp files, Temp Internet files, etc. Docs, Photos, Music, Video.

You could also use the Public folders on each machine for sharing and simply map the drives on each PC.

Ok I think I got what you mean both of you. I will play with it this week and report my success.
