How can I show the virtual DVD drive in boot sequence.

Good morning,

I use AOMEI Backupper to create and restore system images for my Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
I have created a virtual DVD drive (using Magic Disk) with the AOMEI Backupper restore media ISO on it.
Is there any way that I can show this virtual DVD drive in the boot sequence (F12) to be able to run it on restart please?

Unfortunately, no. The virtual DVD software runs within the OS so it's not possible to have the virtual drive present BEFORE Windows is booted. That means there is no way for you to boot from it.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.

It doesn't matter where you put it, you cannot boot from a virtual DVD drive. Since the virtual DVD drive can only be invoked AFTER the OS is booted, it's not possible to boot the OS from it.

Since the computer's BIOS is a mini-OS, if it somehow supported creation of virtual DVD drives, then you could probably do it. I personally don't know of any BIOSes that support that.

If you created a vhd file then you could boot it

Thank you both for the replies.

It is not the OS I want to boot into but rather AOMEI Backupper so I can choose an image to restore to.
I have been told by AOMEI tech that there is a known problem concerning Windows 7 and creating a bootable rescue media.
I have however, got an ISO from them (for Windows 10 but works in Windows 7) that I burnt to DVD and it works.
I was just wondering if there was a way somehow to have the ISO on a seperate partition on the C: drive and be able to boot into that on startup in order to do a system restore.
I can see that I can't do that now.
