How copy files to be used on another machine & not have access probs

What is the best way to copy files, folders, subfolders, and not have access or ownership problems.

I want to copy my entire pictures folder to an external drive to be used by another machine and I'd like to avoid any access denied or ownership problems.

Create a folder on your ext drive called eg. "My shared pics" then just copy what you need to this folder and you shouldn't have any permission problems

Create the shared folder and assign whatever permissions you want. Any folders and files copied to this folder will inherit it's permissions. The permissions they had in the previous location don't matter. Files that are moved follow a different set of rules.

In addition always operate as an Admin to avoid permissioning problems. When you install WIn7 or set up a new OEM PC it assigns you an Admin-level account which is what I'd stick with, only creating Standard accounts for others who you don't want to be able to change things.
