How did you get your first PC?

my first PC was a Tiny PC, about 2001

700 amd duron cpu, nvidia riva tnt2 graphic card, 512MB ram and a 20GB HDD with windows ME

played age of empires all of the time on it

My first computer was a ZX Spectrum (don't remember if it was a 16K or 48K model).
My first PC was a home brewed 486 at 33 MHz (66 MHz Turbo) with 8 MB RAM and a 480 MB HDD with the regular 3.5" and 5.25" floppy drives

I got mine in 1993-1994, it was a 386DX 40MHz Turbo - 26MHz normal, 4MB memory, 170MB harddisk, 5.25" FDD and 3.5" FDD. It got Sound Blaster pro, and a 256kB VGA? I forgot... I played DOOM and DOOM II on it... It got Windows 3.1, listened to some classical music with "The Pianist", connected to my ROLAND keyboard over MIDI, sounds like a CD back then . Good memories...

Wow my 1st PC was also a 386DX40 and I got the Math Co-Processor for it too. I think I had 16mb of ram, Trident or was it a S3 Trio64 vid card, some Yamaha OPL4 sound card, and I think 120mb hdd. WfWG 3.11, DOS 6.22, 14.4 kbps modem mebby 28.8.

Had a big motorcycle smash, then the bike was stolen from the side of the road while I was being patched up in hospital. I used the insurance money to buy a train season ticket and a Commodore 64. My son and I used to play a Lucas game on it called "Rescue on Fractalus" - never failed to make us both jump when the alien suddenly appeared

Wow... it's rare to see a fellow 386DX user It was a good computer, slow... but good. I've got good memories of it... It rarely broke down, maybe because it's so darn simple to boot...?

First own Computer - sinclair ZX80 - first supported computers Sinclair QL and BBC Micros

My first computer was a TI-99/4a in 1981. Shortly after that, I won a Sinclair ZX80 as a door prize. A little later we bought a Trash 80. My kids loved the games on the TI.

About 3 years ago my brother gave me his old windows 98 emachines pc, that was enough to get me started with the basics and move on from there.

I had nearly forgotten all the extra stuff you needed when building those old computers. The CPU was soldered (i think, or it had some weird socket), the motherboard had ISA slots & a AT keyboard port. Everything else you needed to buy cards for: Serial/COM ports, Printer/Parallel port, IDE (or the old old MFM/RLE?) hard drive controller, modem, LAN/NIC, video, sound...nothing was integrated back then.

I bought mine back in 2003. P4 2.4Ghz with 80GB of HDD and 256MB of RAM. Still I use it, with upgraded RAM to 1GB + 256MB, 80GB + 250GB E-HDD and Creative 5.1 Sound blaster.

I love it.
