How do i block firefox using windows firewall ?

Hi,
Is there a way for me to block firefox from accessing internet using windows 7 firewall ?
I've set inbound and outbound rules to block connection from all port, all ip address and all network type (public,home,work) but to no avail, firefox can still browse the internet.

I managed to block yahoo messenger using the same settings. But why can't it work with firefox ? Am i missing something ?

Im confused... a browser's main function is to access the internet... If you don't want Firefox to access the internet, what do have it installed for?? Are you trying to block other users on your network from accessing the net??

No i just want to block firefox in my own computer.
Actually the point here is i want to know if it's possible to block firefox using windows firewall. If it is, it'd be great if anyone can show me the correct way to do that.

After all the configuration i've made to block firefox and without success, i'm starting to wonder if windows firewall really works on my computer.

I'd recommend Comodo Free Firewall, it's a lot easier to use. Windows 7 Firewall isn't all that great and blocking programs is a pain in the ass.

set an outbound rule for Firefox and any port. when it give the option tell it do not allow.

Click Outbound Rules (on the left side)
Click Make New Rule (on the right side)
Make sure "Program" is selected and click Next
In "This Program Path" go to your Firefox Folder and click Firefox.exe
Block the Connection, then you'll have 3 choices I usually leave them all selected.
Name it.

That's exactly what i did. I even set the same thing for both inbound and outbound rules. No success.
It's funny though, when i tried to block yahoo messenger using the same config, it worked, i can't login to yahoo messenger. And when i remove the rules, yahoo messenger was back to normal.

Comodo seems interesting, but i'm still curious.

Been there, done that, no success. There wasn't even a prompt to allow or do not allow.

Just uninstall Firefox :S set everyone that's going to be using the computer except for yourself as a "user" and you have to sign off for any install.

Yes but that would beat the purpose of finding out how to manage windows firewall to block/unblock programs including firefox from accessing the internet, don't you think....

Windows 7 fire wall is not a real firewall its not used to "block programs" more or less slow down people getting in. Firefox uses port 80, the main internet port. unless you cut off port 80.
