have you tried running the dvd from within whatever operating system you currently have installed ?
if it does run ok just pick custom install and pick the partition you want to install to![]()
Just noticed, in Brink's excellent tutorial How to Do a Clean Installation with Windows 7, a warning that, unless the installation is started from DVD as first boot, you don't have the option to install to drives other than to the one on which you are running your current OS.Therein lay my original problem: I cannot boot from either DVD or flash drive.
Thanks, anyway, ickymay.
Well, not exactly. If you use Vista disk management (or a third party partitioning tool) to create and format NTFS the second partition, then you will be able to choose to install it there from the Win7 installer run from Vista, choosing Custom install.
Therein lay my original problem: I cannot boot from either DVD or flash drive.
