I have some files and folders on a DVD. I open the DVD on my Windows 7 Home Premium.

1. Please see the attachment named 'File Icon'. Side by side are 2 movie files. Codec of the movie on the left is 'H264-MPEG4 AVC (Part10) (AVC1)'. The icon shows an actual picture of what is in the film which is very helpful to identify the contents without playing the film. The file on the right with the VLC Player icon does not show the content. Codec of this film is 'Flash Video (FLV1)'. Is there any way that I can get this also to show an actual picture from the film instead just the VLC icon?

Regards,

Seems to me the file association is the issue, depends upon the file type, i.e. .wmv is associated with Windows Media Player. VLC can play a number of formats. But again, it depends upon the file type/s of your videos. Changing the extension can change what program you'll need but also can kill the ability to view a file. I've had success in changing a few .mp4 files to .flv but VLC still plays it.

I have no trouble in playing either of them. Is there any thing I can do to make the file on the right, (with the codec of 'Flash Video (FLV1)'), also to display actual content like the one on the left, instead of just the VLC icon. To help identify the film at a glance, without playing it or reading the title
