How do I change my PC controllers buttons Configurations.

Hi there, i'm new here and i wanted to know how can i change my pc controllers configurations for example my pc recognize button 3 as button 2 and so on..
i opened the controller configuration panel but when i press button 3 it shows button 4...
so any suggestions ?

You can do that via the ingame options menu IF the game supports Controllers. Like in BF3 i changed quite a few of the buttons on my xbox controller.
