How do I change the way files are saved on partitioned disk

Hi I just bought a new computer with a 256 disk partitioned into 2 drives: C (called OS) and D (Data). The computer writes everything to the smaller C drive, leaving D completely empty.

I only have about 25G left on C and would like to find a way to change the way files are saved or some other workaround that will let me take advantage of the entire disk.

I am not a very tech person - a mid-level user, so I need a solution, which will not create problems of programs not recognizing their paths afterwards.

Thanks a lot

Leush, welcome to the windows 7 forums.

Most programs allow you to specify where the program is installed if you don't take the default location.
Check with the programs you are installing to see if there is a customize option where you can select
which drive and directory where it will install the program.
Many programs require a small number of files be places on the C or boot drive but many allow you to
install on another disk drive.

leush, if you're like most people--you just let the computer decide to save all you documents, pictures, videos, etc to the default 'library' location (that's why the C drive is filling up). You can easily change the default location (to the D drive) by following the instructions in this link:
