I was trying to install a Windows 10 Theme to my Windows 7 Computer, mainly because I like the way it looks more than the default Win7. There was a file called Shell32.dll in the .rar file I downloaded containing the theme. I read several forums on how to change it.... but I'm not quite sure I want to till I know EXACTLY what I'm doing my PC is Windows 7 Ultimate and 64-bit as stated by the title. I would really appreciate the help! I also saw something about downloading a registry hack that adds "Take Ownership" to the right click menu. Which I had already done just in case :p. It has a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of the Shell32.dll file and a site saying you have to use both if you have a 64-bit machine. But, until I know my computer is COMPLETELY safe and know what I'm doing in a good level of detail. I will not perform these actions as once before I had fallowed a guide to replace Explorerframe.dll and my computer would not boot. Windows fixed this problem for me by doing a startup repair. This was strange because I fallowed the guide exactly and it worked for him but not for me :(. Anyways Thank You For Reading This! I will be on so if you guys have an answer or need anymore info I'll be here! :) :picnic:

Also, just in case! Windows 10 RTM Themes FINAL for Win 7 by sagorpirbd on DeviantArt (Where I Got The Theme)

So far both of my posts are related to Themes! XD

Welcome to the Seven Forums

To properly change a system file you need to take ownership give yourself permission and rename the old file and then copy in the new one look at Post #6 of this thread will tell you how to do it http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/179502-basic-networking-information.html#post1525656

To make sure you get the right file in the right place check the size of the file that came with the theme and check the size of the file in both C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and C:\Windows\System32 they should be pretty close to the original size.
