How do I copy Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit DVD-ROM to a DVD+R?

No worries, I forget plenty of things.

It a good reminder to all that program is still around and does the job fine.

Thank you, but I tried to copy, it would not work. Something is missing from the steps.
Now, I also tried ImgBurn. It copied BOOT, AUTORUN.INF and BOOTMGR.

I also need to make it bootable, the CD-ROM does have the following:
Folders: BOOT EFI SOURCES SUPPORT UPGRADE
Files: AUTORUN.INF BOOTMGR SETUP.EXE

Nothing is working. Can someone give me exact detailed steps? Not "copy or burn". I do not know which to do. I am not knowledgeable about this, so I need detailed instructions.

I need to copy the disc and put it on a DVD+R, which must also be bootable. I only have ONE disc left, so please be precise.

Install one of the suggested programs - plenty of suggestions already, they all work fine. You can't do it without.

Thank you, SIW2, but it did not work either.
When I put the destination disc in, it cannot read it. It is a blank DVD+R. What am I doing wrong?

I already asked that in post #6 :sarc:

Maybe your dvd burner does not read dvd+R, have you burned to them before with this machine ?

This is what I get when I attempt to burn it with Windows.

If he doesn't have a dvd writer than all those dvd's that failed previously would be fine right?

Silly question, do you have a DVD-ROM or a DVD/R/RW?
I agree we are missing something very simple.

Here is something that might clear up our little dilemma.

Please go to (my computer) on desktop and right click it. Then click manage. Than in the left panel click device manager. In the center panel click DVD/CD-ROM drives. This will tell us the model of your dvd player and we can eliminate the concern weather it is a dvd-rom or dvd-rw

Thanks

Even with PowerIso it won`t let me do on the fly burning, I really think you have to make the iso file from the dvd 1st then burn that.

But if you are making direct copies Gary, what software are you using ?

Um here is another silly question (How many dvd's have you gone through?) Have you only had this one disk and have repeatedly tried burning to it or have you actually tried several but failed.

I am trying to understand exactly what is going on here.

Duplicate of my reply on your other thread...

The disc I am trying to duplicate has the following on it:
Folders: BOOT EFI SOURCES SUPPORT UPGRADE
Files: AUTORUN.INF BOOTMGR SETUP.EXE

You're missing the file bootmgr.efi from your original source (probably an x86/32 bit) For an x64 build (which is what you're running based on the VERY limited system specs you have provided ;)) you should use an original x64 extracted iso/DVD as the source.

Your problem is that you do not read the postings or do not take the time to understand them.

I concur FWIW:zip:

I'm also interested to know. I would often use 2 drives for direct disc-to-disc, my internal optical drive and I plug in my external LiteOn combo.

I haven't tested on-the-fly disc-to-disc with a single optical drive. :o

Hi Britton30,

You should reiterate your instructions for "Copy CD to CD". This is exactly what the OP needs (if she can't find the download method viable). A quick guide for ISO Recorder with screenshots might just be able to help her.

Just to confirm, I have also successfully backed up my own Windows 7 Professional OEM disc with ISO Recorder, disc-to-disc copy. Tested bootable. :)

How to make a copy of a disk with iso Recorder.

First install Iso Recorder by Alex Feinman.

   Information
Your ODD may speed up or stop at times during the process, it is normal, don't eject until done.

Ok, here goes. Put the w7 disk in the ODD (optical disk drive) close the Install Now window.
1 installer.png

Open Computer, right click the ODD with the disk.

2 Rt Click.png

The Recorder window will open, adjust as shown below.

3 recorder window.png

When you click Next it will start copying, which is making an .iso file of the disk's contents in a temp directory.

4 copying.png

Give it a few minutes to finish, it's nearly 4GB.

5 Copy finished.PNG

You will get this after the copy is done, eject the disk and place a new, blank DVD/R disk in the ODD and close it, click OK, it may take a few moments for it to recognize the disk, keep trying . Recording will start and will also take some time.

6 Recording.PNG

Now it's all done and you have an exact copy of the original disk.

7 All Done.PNG

OK. Be it so :). Let the OP confirm that that it can write DVD+R from the VSO Inspector. Let the OP also check what Media ID is that of of the DVD+R is by clicking on the Media Tab. For sure I would advise the OP to buy a good branded DVD-RW ( like JVC/Verbatim/Taiyo Yuden etc.,)and try burning the ISO.

I am of the opinion that once media compatibility is ensured writing the ISO to the media should not be a problem with any of the burning software be it Windows Native Image Burner/ISO Recorder/ or anything else.

And I do remember that we always started our first writes with a rewritable disk and also a simulated burn.
