I have been using Microsoft security essentials on my compaq 420, 32 bit laptop.
On examining it with a second anti virus scanner the following results were found...

<Malware (2)
Information about malware detected on the computer.
Kaspersky Lab recommends
not-a-virus:HEUR:AdWare.Win32.Agent.heur
PE-Crypt.XorPE
C:\Program Files\Immunet\Quarantine\qrt01cfaa8fca799137.001/
Trojan.Win32.AntiFW.b
PE-Crypt.XorPE
C:\Program Files\Immunet\Quarantine\qrt01cfaa9095f0be95.002/

As Essentials is not able to correct it ...is it ok to just delete the files from the folder?..
pls. suggest

Hi and welcome to SevenForums!

You probably have used Immunet Antivirus before you changed to Microsoft Security Essentials, right? Based on the path C:\Program Files\Immunet\Quarantine\ it sounds as Immunet previously found these malware and put them in quarentine. Have you fully removed Immunet from your computer? Otherwise it may interfere with the Microsoft AV.

If you have uninstalled Immunet but the quarentine folder was left, then let Kaspersky's program delete the files.

thanks Tookeri!

you were right. i had earlier used immunet/clam av and uninstalled it long ago as it was giving system problems with MSE.

now, 'kapersky security scan' being scan only cannot delete the files.
is it fine if i just delete them on my own?

also in the same 'immunet' folder were 'clam av' system files amounting to 214 mb.

Let know if there's a safe way within MSE or 360* av to delete these quarantined files and the clam folder as after scanning both these av's gave a green to them.

thank you!

Most antivirus products have specific uninstall tools that you can download to fully remove all of its files. I don't know about Immunet, but here's a list of common AV uninstall tools: List of anti-malware product removal tools - Microsoft Community

If you really have uninstalled Immunet then it didn't do a good job if it left 214 mb. Try Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

If you don't want to try that then just try and delete the Immunet directory. If Immunet really is uninstalled then those files shouldn't be in use and locked.

@tookeri

the issue is solved and thanks a lot seven forums.

eventually, i had to delete it myself, but after 24hrs. the system is as stable as ever.

as the problem was detected only by kaperskys' , and no other av.... (strange but true). so.. waiting for the online kapersky virus removal tool to get online.

thx,again
