I have screensaver disabled through personalize menu and command prompt.

I have sleep/hibernation disabled through power options and reg edit.

I have every power option set to not hibernate, sleep, go to screen saver, or anything.

I have disabled every possible thing I could find that would cause a blank, black screen to appear whenever I don't touch my pc for an amount of time.

And yet, I still get the black screen when my pc is idle.

Why? How can I stop it? It's annoying and I have zero interest in having it.

I'd appreciate any help/advice.

I run Windows 7 Professional.

Hello Jill, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Double check to make sure that you have the Turn off the display option set to Never in your power plan settings for both "on battery" and "plugged in". :)

Hope this helps,
Shawn

It's a desktop and I don't have any option for plugged in or battery but I do have the options in the power plans all set to Never/Disable where appropriate.

I'm at a bit of a loss.

is power plan set to 'high performance'?

No, just basic. Is that important? I don't want to use more power than necessary, but I also don't want that screensaver.

Would putting it on high disable the screensaver thing? If I left it on basic, is there a way I could extend the amount of time it takes before the screen saver appears?

first--right click on desktop and select personalization--make sure 'screen saver' is set to NONE--if that doesn't solve it--then change power plan to 'High Performance'.

I did say I already did the screensaver thing but I will set it to high to see what it does. Unfortunately I'm about to go to bed so I won't see if it worked until I get up.
