I've seen the tutorial at http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html already but the problem is that I do not have the option of going online to get the latest updates. I have the 32-bit digital river download by the way and trying to do an upgrade only gives me this message saying that all my directories have to be on the same partition. It tells me that I have to do a clean install. This whole problem came about when I tried using easeus partition master to resize my e: drive (where my win7 is installed) from ~800 gb to ~150 gb. For some reason it was unable to complete it's task and after rebooting I have been unable to load windows 7. The os itself will boot, however, nothing appears on the desktop other than my mouse. I can use the task manager to run a limited number of processes such as explorer and the windows 7 install file but that's about it. Any help would be much appreciated!

Can you do a system restore? If so go back to the time that things were good. If not can you do a system restore in safe mode?

System restore will not work at all. It says that I need to enable it first and when I try enabling it I get a volume label error. So system restore is a no go. I've decided to just try saving the files from my User folder and copying them into another account. Will all my drivers still be intact?

You say you can run task manager. Open it and run "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes)

Can you get any functions back using safe mode?

Do you have the DVD that came with the computer or is there a way to restore everythign to factory state, when you received the computer. Dell gives both a recovery partition and DVD's. Check your manual there is a way to do it. If you can get to that point, you can sovle your problem.

Easeus lost the ability to boot while resizing your partition. It is a risk with resizing operations.

You need to boot into the Win7 DVD Repair console and run Startup Repair 3 times to repair and possibly rewrite the MBR to get your Win7 started.

When you get it started up, keep your DVD in and run a Repair install which is an Upgrade over itself to correct the problems you are having.
