How do I find a file structure
Pretending to be a Poser

I have a programmer for my truck and would like to tweak the programming files. How would I go about finding what it takes to do this? The programmer is called a "Smarty" and the files that are loaded onto it are extensioned .smt. Its automotive programming so it has to be the same as any other programmer, right?
Any help on where to get started on this would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think the OP means smarty framework for PHP. I aasume it's a custom files from some ECM Module. And wow... another Indonesian...
awenthol, different ECM use different files. You cant just modify it just like that. If you are interested of reading the file raw, I guess you can load it to a HEX editor and read it byte to byte.

Yeah, I mean the Programmer is called a Smarty...has nothing to do with smarty framework. I didn't know how easy/difficult it would be to modify but figured it can't hurt to ask.

For kicks I loaded it into a binary/hex viewer and I haven't the slightest clue what I'm looking at, so I suppose that doesn't help :roflmao:

Dissecting a raw file is PITA, ya' know? I suggest you "give up", and use it's appropriate program to modify it self...

Doing a rough research about .smt files, it is said that it belongs to a "Apollo Database Engine". Some other programs that uses it includes:
CAD Program SMT-circuit Layout
Creator Simulator (Symbol File) by
Tufts University
HiPer-Six Memo File
IconAuthor (SmartObject)
QuickBooks by
Intuit Inc.
