How do I find out the programms that are running in the background.

Please, as I cant shut down my computer, without forcing whatever programme is running in the background to close. And I know ive not got anything open.

Have you tried Task Manager, Process tab?

Thanks Ztruker, wow ive got 87 running. But it means not much to me. My problem is finding which one is not shutting down properly, when i shut the computer.

Trial and error.

Shut down the first half of the processes and see if the problem disappears.

If it does not disappear, you know the problem process is in the other half.

Then shut down half of that other half.

Etc, until you pinpoint it.

Let's try another, not so drastic approach.
WIN | type MSCONFIG | APPLICATIONS tab |
this will show you what applications are running.

Trying to work your way thru all of the processes, many of which are vital to your system is too much.

WIN=key with the microsoft flag on top.

It might cause a lockup or certain apps to quit running and force you to reboot, but it's not going to damage your hardware.

You can probably fish it out in other ways, but that's one way.
