Solved How do i fix windows update error code 'C000022'?

I recently downloaded some updates on my windows 7. I had to reboot it, so I did. When it was starting, it was doing some update verifying or something, then it got stuck on 'Cleaning Up Don't turn off computer'. I had to reboot it. Which now I regret because in the bottom right corner of the desktop it says 'Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine.' And once in awhile I get an error saying that my copy of Windows 7 is not genuine. I also had my background turn black once. I have tried re-entering my product key into SLUI 3 but it says access is denied. I get the error C000022 when I look for updates as well. Please note: I did not have this problem before the update. So I'm pretty sure my copy is not pirated.

The 500 error indicates that the file is too big - delete a couple of the oldest CBSPersist files, and try again.

Your MGADiag shows an interesting set of errors - guessing, I'd say that this may at least partially fix it....




This can result from mistakenly setting the System32 folder and its contents to 'Read Only' status.

Open Windows Explorer (Computer)
Navigate to the C:\Windows folder
Find the System32 sub-folder and right-click on it
select Properties

Clear the 'blob' from the 'Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)' box by clicking on it until it's plain white.
Click on Apply.

Make sure that the radio button for 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files' is set, and click OK.

Accept the Administrator prompt. After a couple of seconds, you'll be told there is an error - click on the 'Ignore all' button.

Wait for it to finish - it could take a couple of minutes.

OK out, and exit Windows Explorer.

Reboot twice

Post a new MGADiag report.
