How Do I Get The Correct Resolution For Videos in WMP?

Hello,

Whenever I attempt to watch a movie in WMP12, whether downloaded or a inserted DVD, this (http://i49.tinypic.com/a5ci12.png) is always the size/resolution of the movie (sometimes it's a little bigger and wider but it's still tiny).
I've tried to expand the size of the video to 200% but the quality of the video becomes choppy. I have also tried stretching the player by dragging the corner of it in hopes of expanding to video but that didn't work either.

I'm not sure what you need to know about my computer to help me with this issue so ask in a reply if you need to know anything.
