Hi there,

System Config:
Dual core 3.06Ghz
gigabyte Board
500GB HDD (4 partition )
160GB HDD (3 partition)
No DVD drive
AOC 15.6 LED monitor

I wanted to have 2 separate OS on 2 separate HDD without DVD drive. In 160GB HDD already there is 1 OS, so i installed Win 7 in 500GB with one back up copy of Win 7 (simply i clicked the set up icon and installed in 46GB partition , no DVD drive no virtual disk, ).Then I removed the 160GB HDD and tried to boot from 500GB but its not booting, its showing system failure insert bootable disk.

If i put 160GB HDD it will show 2 separate OS (dual boot), i allowed to boot both OS (both are Win 7 only )

please help me to solve this,

thanks
Rajeev

Please post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Managment drive map and listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu. Attach using paper clip icon in reply box.

Normally you would mark the new Win7 partition Active, unplug the old HD with the System partition, boot into DVD or Repair CD to run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until the new Win7 partition becomes marked System Active and boots on its own.

You can then plug back in the other HD, set preferred one to boot first in BIOS setup, boot the other one using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first screen. If you don't like this arrangement, install EasyBCD to the first booting HD, add the other OS on Add OS Entry tab to a Dual Boot menu.

But there are sometimes complications like a Logical partition which cannot be marked Active until converted. So its best we see the screenshot if you have any problems.

Here is the attachment red marked partition installed with win7(which is not booting alone )

You'd have to use Partition Wizard CD to convert H to Primary to mark it Active and run Repairs, however since it's in the middle of a Logical container you'd have to first convert L to get it to work since all Logicals must be contiguous. How to set partition as Primary or Logical.

Then rightclick H to Modify>Set to Active, OK. Click on HD # to highlight it, from Disk tab Rebuild MBR, Apply. If Win7 doesn't start on its own run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.

Hopefully you booted the installer to correctly install Win7 so it will see itself as C when booted.

WOW!!!

Finally My Win 7 is working.

Thank you for such a great help

Here is what have made.

First thing I came to know that my previews OS installation was incomplete. So what i did is..?

1.Deleted the (which I wanted to install win 7) partition and create new partition

2. Wiped with EaseUS Partition Master 9

3. Converted the partition logical into Primary

4. Made active

5. Rebuild the MBR

6. And Simply installed the OS with my 8GB Micro SD card with card reader :)

Finally its working
