I have realtek HD audio driver; and when I went to the site; they had multiple downloads; I'm not sure which one I need or if I need to update.I can't click the update button on the audio manager as its grayed out.But my speakers are making buzzing/static noises and it was suggested I may need an update.

Driver Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp
Driver Date: 3/27/2012
Driver Version: 6.0.1.6602
Driver name: RTKVHD64.sys

This is my driver's current.Does it need updating? If so which one do I want?

Generally, the preferred driver is the one from the PC (or motherboard if its a custom built). Even though RealTek has a driver, they have a notice to get the driver from the PC/Motherboard vendor.

This is from the RealTek site:
Audio drivers available for download from the Realtek website are general
drivers for our audio ICs, and may not offer the customizations made by your
system/motherboard manufacturer. To be sure you obtain the full
features/customizations provided in your original audio product, please download
the latest drivers from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website
The sound driver is one potential source of your problem, but not the only one.

Thank you, no this isn't a custom built.I am renting it from Aarons, almost have the laptop paid off.I'll go check HP.The default audio is realtek on my laptop for some reason.

I suppose I really should bring it into Aarons before the warranty is up.

I downloaded the second one like you said and its now saying my version is 2011 instead of 2012.

Buzzing noises, huh? You might find this totally unrelated but this problem *may be* solved by disabling audio enhancements. Control Panel>Sound properties, right click your output device in the list, click properties>Enhancements tab>Disable all effects and see if that helps.

Some noise is bound to be there. Do you have any radio devices in the vicinity of the speakers (like mobile phone)? That can be the source of noise problems too. Eg, if I keep my wifi router near the speakers, they start making strange buzzing noises.

Also, try cleaning up the speaker connector.
