How do I make an Excel Spreadsheet my desktop wallpaper

Hello, I use a simple spreadsheet as a Job Control/Job Progress report in my business. I would like to make it the desktop wallpaper on all of our workstation desktops and my laptop.

We run 4 workstation computers (all W7 Professional) off of our server (Windows small business 2003). The spreadsheet is stored on the server, and Id like it to be the wallpaper of all the desktops. The aim being to edit the server version daily, with the changes flowing through to the workstations.

I understand the spreadsheet needs to be saved as a web page, but then that file doesnt appear in the list when attempting to change wallpaper.

3 of these workstations are 32 bit, but my new laptop is 64.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hello Tully and welcome to Seven Forms.

I did this in the past on a single machine by opening the spreadsheet > File > Save as Web Page > Add Interactivity option. I then saved the document as my desktop background. Whenever I'd go to the desktop I'd have an editable spreadsheet showing.

Unfortunately, this was with a single machine. I'm not sure if you'd have to do anything differently on a server with multiple machines.

Welcome to Seven Forums Tully66. What marsmimar suggests sounds correct, but believe you need active desktop for that which was discontinued after XP. If the idea works, then this may help you

Thank you for the replies, but a couple queries:
Marsmimar, after Save as Web Page you say "Add Interactivity option" but nothing like that came up on screen...

Is that what you're talking about A Guy? if so will your suggestion "active Desktop replacement for Vista" work for me as we used Windows 7 Professional?

I have Office 2003, and Excel has the option Marsmimar spoke of

Have a look here, they seemed to have issues finding that choice in 2007. But discuss getting it to work, and even mention the program.

Thanks A Guy, but we have Office/Excel 2010 here and it doesnt have it. Have read other posts and seems it wasnt included from 2007. Also not running XP, we have Win 7 Pro.

Cant seem to find any posts later than 2010 so it musn't be possible now, or if it is, its in the "too hard basket"... thanks for trying to help me.

XP was what had active desktop, hence the program. But yeah, that's a tough one. Can't shake the feeling I saw a similar discussion about how to get info on all users desktops, but perhaps not an excel spreadsheet. A Guy
