Hello Sevenforums
This morning when i tried to wake up my limp old desktop, it made a very loud continuous beep. Not like the normal POST bootup "beep", but a siren almost begging me to turn off the machine ASAP
Anyways, i found elsewhere that this MAY be due to faulty RAM, so i took out one of the sticks, and it booted succesfully (i tried booting thrice with both sticks just to be sure)
So now i believe that a proper testing of my RAM would be in its right. but how? I hear the term "memtest" flung around every now and then, but i have never really tried it out before. And the biggest problem is (probably) how i, if possible at all, test the "faulty" ram of stick, which my PC won't bootup with.
And in the case that it indubitably needs replacing, what will i have to look out for when purchasing a new RAM stick(s)? Like, a format, size, capacity, BIOS setup etc.
Thank you all very much in advance, these forums have helped me a LOT recently.
(and sorry for long post)
