Why is this a horrible mistake? Did you intend to reinstall Win7?

Do you have an EFI BIOS? Enter BIOS setup to see if there is an EFI boot disk in the BIOS Boot order, and when it is set to boot?

If not then try wiping the HD with Diskpart Clean Command to retry Clean Install Windows 7

Yep, follow what Greg posted. It's been successful for many many users, and as long as you've got a valid w7 product key it'll work without buying any additional software.

If you're doing this on an OEM machine (Dell, Acer, Toshiba, etc.) there is additional info in this one that you can refer to to help you along: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.h

Are you doing the XP thing mentioned in post #4? You don't have to do that.

The mention of EFI (or UEFI) was a question posed to you. Your error indicates we've got to start looking at your hardware, therefore the question was to determine whether or not you have an EFI motherboard.

Can you fill out your system specs or at least post them?

The advice posted by Bhara is simply bad advice - ignore that completely. Follow Greg's suggestion here.

No. The regular Diskpart clean is plenty, no need to clean all...

Looking at the info for your board indicates that it is an EFI board.
  • Reboot your machine and immediately press F2 to enter the BIOS.
  • Under the Bios Boot menu make sure UEFI boot item is disabled (unless your hard drive is larger than 2TB).
  • Under the BIOS Configuration menu select SATA Drives and then Chipset-SATA and change it to AHCI.
Then continue with the tutorial posted by Greg.

Sorry to butt in fellow gurus, but just to be sure, (since you posted that screenshot that has unallocated disk space), are you following the final step of the that diskpart clean tutorial which asks you to perform this next bit?

From the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html tutorial

11. You will now need to create a new partition or volume on the disk to be able to use it again.

Oh okay then my bad, i assumed you just decided to install windows directly on an unallocated/unpartitioned disk like was highlighted in your previous screenshot.

Carry on, fellow gurus. I stand corrected.
