Acer Aspire 17.3 laptop. had black screen with a few words eg. no system. used F10 and now have Windows Boot Manager black page with Windows failed to start and 1,2,3 insert disk and restart. choose Enter and it offers Window 7 Enter or F8. all choices come back to these same 2 pages. Ctrl+Alt+Del brings me back as well.

the following words apper each time. FILE \windows\system 32\win load.exe STATUS oxc 000000f INFO the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

5 Recovery CDs i made at time of purchase are not recognized when loaded.

how may i recover, repair or reinstall the operating system ?? thanks - jimhicks36

If the recovery CDs aren't being recognized it's possible they didn't burn correctly when you made them.

To do a Repair Install you'll need an installation disk containing the Windows 7 version currently on your machine. This Repair Install tutorial contains a link to Digital River where you can download an official ISO for your operating system. The ISO would then have to be burned to a disk or USB flash drive. A repair install should preserve your user accounts, data, system drivers, other installed programs, etc.

If you prefer a clean install to remove factory bloatware and unnecessary "stuff", this tutorial explains how that can be done.

There's one other possibility that might work for you. Your Aspire might have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive that could restore the machine to factory specs. This Acer FAQ sheet explains more.

Thank you Marsmimar/GregRocker,
by using Alt F10, i was able to open Acer eRecovery Management and had 3 choices, not 4.
first choice said no data available. second choice was clean reinstall from memory.
it stopped at 37 percent and said Fail etc.
chose F2 which may be BIOS and in Boot, moved CD/DVD to top.
i will try my recovery CDs from date of purchase.

before i try this, is there an easy way to recover a few files that were saved to My Documents folder ?

Seven group page says message moved.
where was it moved to and where should i be looking for any other suggested repair ideas ?
love all - jimhicks36
