I started my taxes yesterday and found out that my .tax2011 was saved to a windows.old folder because I had to do a custom install because I was installing from xp to 7. I need to report a couple 1099's. Is there anyway I can get to this file so I don't have to completely start over with this year's info?
I tried that today and yesterday with the help of a Turbo Tax specialist. No matches found, but when I hover over the source it indicates C:\\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\TurboTax. I tried to go to Windows Support and sort of found help, but I still can't get it visible to Turbo Tax.
You can copy files from Windows.old to respective folders in Seven. Simply copy C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\Your_Username\My Documents\TurboTax folder to C:\Users\Your_Username.
If pasting the folder to C:}Users\Your_Username\ reports that there already is a folder with the same name on your user folder, you can merge folders:
Now you can try if your application finds the files where it is expecting them to be located.

Thanks, still no luck. I saved it, but can't find it with searching .tax. I better get going on replacing everything as I have to have the 1099's done today.
