Please provide guidelines for using SSD as System Drive (60 GB).
I understand there are several issues like:
- buying 8 GB RAM plus dismissing pagefile.sys (myth or true?)
- setup of user files cleanly on D: drive (yes, big and mirrored)
- other settings helping to preserve SSD
No doubt, experts on the subject would come up with further, more knowledgable aspects.
TIA

N.B. Forum search I did, never found any matches for "SSD" (no quotes) - hence I posted this.

If you have a new and unused SSD, it is completely painless.

Windows 7 will realize it is an SSD and make a few adjustments.

I'd keep the page file, but you can put it on another drive if you want to. Some people get rid of it, but you occasionally hear of Windows bitching because it can't find one.

The normal recommendation is to install the OS and apps to the SSD and use spinning drives for data.

You can get rid of the hibernation file if you don't use hibernation--that will save space equal to the amount of RAM you have.

Keep an eye on the amount of space devoted to System Restore. Likewise for the page file.

You can check alignment after you install, or you can set it manually in Diskpart if you prefer.

Thanks for replies!

Now I need to locate the thread related to my failure on Forum Search for "SSD".
It is a short string, so maybe...
Regards to everyone! :D
