This is what I have tried...
1. Control Panel> Hardware and Sound>Sound>Adjust system volume -I then click the mute icon to mute "System Sounds".
2. Control Panel> Hardware and Sound>Sound>Change System Sounds - I then select "No Sounds".
When the system starts up, just when the log-in window appears, I get this annoying chime sound. I would really like to get rid of this sound, when Windows 7 starts up.
Thank you
James

, by opening my eyes. There is a simple little check mark on the "Sounds" tab, which is labeled in plain English for all to see,"Play Windows Startup sound".
