How do I upgrade from 32 bit win7 to 64 bit

I am trying to upgrade from a 32 bit version of Windows 7 to a 64 bit. I have been told that i will have to do a clean install but when I put the Windows disk in and boot it just boots into windows and setup does not start. How can I format my C: drive if the disk won't boot.

Sorry I forgot to mention I did that in the bios I have th hard drive as the third boot after the cd and floppy but it still won,t boot from cd

I read that thread my disk is new I just bought it. I am using a wireless keyboard. I don' t know if that makes a difference or not plus both the hard drive and dvd rom are sata.

Most BIOS's will have a boot order override key combination during boot - at the same time as the option is presented to enter the bios setup. It is often F10 or F11, but check your system screen or manuals to be sure.

If you select this option you should be presented with a list of assigned boot devices - select the correct DVD drive from the list and proceed with the install

You have to watch the screen while booting from the DVD.

You only get about 8 seconds to hit a key on the keyboard to boot the disk.

If you don't it just boots into windows.

Fill out your specs that will help with people trying to help.

You do have a DVD drive....right?

Ok got it working I was selecting CD as first boot instead of DVD. Thanks for all of the replies. they helped a lot.
