Hello all , I'm new to this site and Windows 7 , I would like to know how I can get rid of the Favorites that show up when I click my URL drop down box , How can I get rid of the favorites showing ??? , thaks to all who reply

You mean Windows Explorer favourite places, or IE8 recently typed or visited urls?

I will assume you mean the IE favorites,that you visit often. Click on favorites. Then right click on the one that you want to delete, then click on delete.

If you want to delete your browsing history, go tools>internet options>delete browsing history.

Its the favorites, its showing favorites that I haven't even went on lately , and if I delete them , does it delete in my favorites ??

safety tab , didn't work , it jusy deleted the history , all the favorites are still there, its showing favorites that I don't want to see when I hit the drop down box in my URL

rich , thank you , but thats not working , I understand what your telling me about the history thats typed in , but for some reason , its showing favorites from my favorites menu in the URL , below what I have typed into the URL

Try running the items in the tracks eraser tab of glary utilities.

You may be describing a Favorites tool bar.
Right click on your menu bar and uncheck favorites bar.

Hello jubie,

I think you mean the Favorites Bar.

IE8's Tools > Toolbars > in the popup menu Favorites Bar is probably checked. Left click to uncheck it.

goto tools / Internet options then content tab and click the settings button next to "auto complete settings" and untick address bar / browsing history and favourites then click OK ........

Is that what you meant ?

I have searched through the registry and all IE8 Settings.
I may be missing something (not looking at the right keys) but I don't think it's possible.

I think it's part of the program and unchangeable.

I did find a way to get rid of it,,, you won't like the answer......

Delete all your favorites.

When you click the url drop arrow, mouse down to the one you want to delete. On the right hand side of the drop down menu is a red X, click it.
