How do you delete Outlook 2010 ost file, leaving just gmail IMAP?

Hello. How can I make gmail pst file the default delivery location in place of exchange ost?

We switched away from Exchange (2003) to gmail IMAP. All needed emails and contacts are now in gmail and are synched with the local machines.

I cannot delete the exchange data file in Outlook 2010 "account settings." because it is the "default deliver location." It says to create a new one. How do I do that? Thanks.

Think I may just have stumbled across the solution. Disabled the Microsoft Exchange add-in.

Then create a new data file under options\account\data files tab (mandatory). Will create a local pst and a place for your Outlook contacts to be stored.

If you delete the exchange data file, you will lose all of your contacts in Outlook. Therefore have them backed up to gmail or somewhere. After exchange data file deletion, you'll need to synch your remotely stored contacts back to Outlook.

If your contacts, calendar, etc. are in order, delete the old exchange data file.

If gmail, use GO Contact Sync Mod to bring contacts back into Outlook. Make sure the initial restoration sync into outlook is set to go from gmail to outlook and not visa versa.
