Solved How do you fix corrupted files found by SFC /SCANNOW?

Hey Folks, been having all sorts of issues, think i boiled it down to : How do you fix corrupted files found by SFC /SCANNOW as when i run it i get the detected corrupted files but unable to fix...im about ready to do a fresh install but i thought id try you gents first.

Run sfc /scannow (3) times with reboot after each one.

Let us know if that fixes the problems.

Hey there, ran it 3 times with reboots after each, still getting message Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

however boot times and solid boot ups after each progressive reboot. It has been very slow to boot lately and never consistent, some weeks windows boots up fine evry day then randomly hangs and i have to restart multiple times to get it to boot properly. I am not opposed to doing a fresh install, i just like to get to the bottom of things.

Did you do a check disk?

What I have learned after years is that, whatever your computer is or whatever you run on it, the best thing you can do to recover its performance is a clean install.

My suggestion is to do a clean install.

Do by chance use any Tuneup, Speedup programs?

Also do you use any programs by IObit?

Have you check with many programs for infections or PUP's?

I dont use any programs like Tuneup, or Speedup programs or by IObit?

I recently a couple months back did a clean install, then i did a windows update i think the one that caused all the problems, i thought i had it sorted out by i have had nothing but problems since then.

I think i will do a clean install...is there a lates build i can get on a thumb drive so i can install from that? I have the disc but id rather not go through service pack 1 and all those updates that caused the problems.


any advice?

If your Windows Installation disk isn't SP1, use the Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool.

If you need a clean install again I can think of two things that might be causing problems.

1. Your install media was corrupted and/or not activating properly.
2. You are doing something with your system that is corrupting it.

I will follow the advice of everyone and do a clean install following those steps, the link for the iso download works but i cant see the options inside the gui so ill just follow the steps listed earlier ...thanks for everyones help. I appreciate it!

Windows ISO Downloader
- Download the down loader (above)
- Run it.
- Chose Win 7 HP
- Burn the Iso or make a USB installation disk
