How Do You Get Other Computers To See Windows 7

I have homegroup set up on my windows 7 (I think). I can see all my windows XP computers, but they can't see me. How do I configure my network in windows 7. The network wizard was so simple in windows XP, but I haven't been able to get it right in Vista or Windows 7.

Homegroup only works with other Windows 7 computers.

you need to setup a home or work network.
Make sure all the computers have the same workgroup name.
For XP... run the Network Setup Wizard
For Windows 7: make sure network discovery is enabled
Enable file and printer sharing
Turn on Public Folder Sharing
Turn off Password Protected Sharing
Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections

I have it setup this way and have 2 XP systems and havent had any issues.

Windows Firewall will automatically configure itself for networking. If you are using a different 3rd party firewall you might have to manually configure it to allow network activity between your computers.

I right clicked my computer and changed the workgroup name, and it worked. I can't believe I've been fighting with this for two days, and that was all I hadn't done yet.

I changed both the work group names on my windows 7 box and my brothers Vista box to the same thing and it still didn't work
The thing is that we can see each other in our network maps its just that we don't appear in 'Network'

I heard that file and printer sharing only works on 7 to XP and vice-versa.

Just shows how much MS wants us to forget Vista.
