Hi! New here. First must admit how dumb I am when comes to PC with Windows 7 (which I hate BTW! For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!
That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. It is driving me nuts! I have been told more than once that a window will open the same way that it was closed - not true! Reduced window does not happen when using Mozilla. Must be simple option for me to make a change - but how? Where? Please I need help!
Sorry to hear that! For me XP was a "Blue Screen Special" from all the problems it seems others were having. Vista was far more stable but was growing in size and the minimum system requirements were set too low. Windows 7 on the other hand has been a working champion right out of the box!
As for new IE windows always being minimized that's how IE is regardless of which version going back even before XP and IE 6. One small program solved everything however. The IE New Window Maximizer can be found at: jiiSoft :: IE New Window Maximizer
The one thing to know about this one however is never check off the maximize Outlook or Outlook Express windows or the close button in Outlook will end up off of the screen entirely! That was the one drawback for the free program seen there.
Ran it when first found way back in the XP days, later on Vista, and presently on the 64bit 7.

Night Hawk - I thought I stopped Maximizer download because of warning about Hotkeys being used for other purposes. I could not find the 'options' folrder with 'hotkeys' identified anywhere. Like I said - I can drive the PC but I do not know what is under the hood!
Even though I closed Maximizer before final install, apparently it installed regardless. So I get my minimized screen maximized now in IE8. Hopefully it did not over ride some of the hotkeys and screw up something else in my PC.
When you first install it it will hide itself automatically. Other then Outlook windows the iemaxizer only effects IE nothing else. The program itself is a lightweight utility running from a folder found in "C:\Program Files(x86)".
For seeing what the default hot keys are set to and changing them you simply right click on the System icon and go to Options>Configuration and open the hot keys tab as seen in the screen here. I didn't find any real difference in the newer version with everything looking the same as it has for years now with the same amount of files found locally on the drive.
Once you confirm or reset the hot keys to what you know will be ok you won't have anything to worry about with this one. Used it for several years now and never even needed to use a hot key.
