How hot should GPU get

I have an hp tx1000 laptop that I use to play an ancient (2001) Ski-Doo snowmobile game on. I have the graphics set to high, not thinking this should be a problem considering the age of the software. My GPU on my laptop is a Nvdia, and the temp gets up to 193 degrees.

Is this too hot??? I don't do much gaming, so I really have no idea.

Also, just for the fun of it, is there an aftermarket liquid-cool system I can add?

For most modern graphics (ATI & Nvidia alike) load temps can run anywhere from 65-80C.
Even close to 80C this is considered normal.

But, 193F = right at 90C.

Being an integrated on board chip, I would think thats a bit too warm.

I would suggest picking up a can of compressed air, and try to blow out as much dust as you can from inside.

To be fair, Im not exactly sure what those integrated chips should be running at normally (Temp wise).

I'll see if I can located some spec sheets.

This is kind of weird though. The motherboard was just replaced about 6 months ago, so there isn't any dust.

However, it was replaced because the GPU melted. (hp replaced it under warranty).

I just started using this computer for gaming about a month ago, so the melting had nothing to do with this.

I wish hp would recall mine.
They replaced the motherboard before under warranty, but had no fix.
Mine is the tx series (tablet pc). The dv series is the one the got the recall and fix, even though that I bought the more expensive model

I just turned on my laptop and played the game with the graphics setting set to low. Still in the 190s!!!

Do you think that there is something wrong with this motherboard!?!?! Remember, this game was made for Windows 95 and I'm running Win 7 on a computer made in 2008.

Well it really shouldn't matter the game, unless its a High intensity game like Crysis etc.

That's a problem alright. Think you might needa give HP another call and let them know whats going on.

wel thats not true, some cards are able to hold 100c. mine in particular can hold up to 85-95 under specs

That's how you feel on the subject.

In my experience, i felt 75 was pretty much the limit, any higher and i get a tad worried.

My card sits on 65 during games.

Some cards can hold 100c, but it's definatly not recommended.

Cards with better cooling solutions can run somewhat cooler in the mid 60s at full load. Maybe pushing closer to 70C under certain situations.

My laptop is a Nvdia chip and am disappointed with it's quality. My ati on my other laptop is better. I can't tell how hot the ati gets because there is not a temp sensor that I can see. The fan runs less anyway.

I found the temp reading from this software called SIW:
SIW | System Information for Windows by Gabriel Topala
It has access to windows information and hardware sensors.

I don't think my BIOS shows temp. Where would it be located?
