How many processes running in a typical bog standard Win 7 Home?

I'm curious about this, what is the typical number of processes that should be running in task manager on a typical standard version of Win 7 Home Premium, without any added programs? (Without IE being used)

My Dad has a couple of year old HP Pavilion p6680t and it has about 62- 65 processes running before any browser is used. He also has Adobe Flash, Win Live Essentials, and MSE, along with a HP printer.

What would a reasonable number be?

I've got 39 after a fresh boot, just idling.

I typically have maybe 10 more than that in normal use.

I don't think I've ever had 60 processes.

I have a dell, 4-5 yrs old. runs great. I have very little installed on it and it starts up at 45 processes. That's internet ready and everything loaded.

That will vary greatly from system to system based on installed software, attached device, etc. What's normal for one, might seem outrageous for another.

The PC is an HP OEM so it does have the usual HP bloat...

But also the printer, adobe flash, adobe reader, Windows Live Essentials.

Everything depends upon what you have installed. On my laptop, which connects to a handful of cloud drives, and runs a few apps and such for work, I have about 85 processes running after a boot-up and Chrome opened.

I'm not doing hardly anything right now and powershell shows me:
49 processes and
170 services.

After bootup, just over 30 processes.

As I'm typing online, 37 processes and 51 "running" services.

I have 94 processes at present
--11 are Google Chrome
--12 are svchost
--10 are vmware related processes

Then there are the running apps like Outlook, Microsoft lync, dropbox, Gladinet desktop, free download manager, Trend AV, various Nvidia utilities, etc. It all adds up, but with an SSD, and 4GB of RAM, the machine is keeping up with no trouble whatsoever.
