Hello, I need to restore my laptop to factory settings, because it has gotten invaded by Welcome to sweet page ??? ???, save on, and I don't know how many other ads and whatnot.... I simply can't figure out how to get rid of it... so I'm restoreing my laptop to factory settings...

The thing is... I've bought Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student, and installed in on 2 laptops and 1 pc, and it said on it's package that it can only be installed 3 times... that's what I understood anyway...

So the question:
Can I install the same Microsoft Office on my laptop even though I already have installed it on 3 different pc's or do I need to buy a new one?

I've got the same Office Home and Student 2010 as you.

I think you are OK.

As I understand it, you are allowed to install on 3 PCs. You've installed on laptop A, laptop B, and PC C.

Now, laptop A is infected and you want to reformat it. I think you can re-install Office without buying anything new because you're just re-installing to 1 of the 3 PCs you have. Not to a new fourth PC.

I don't think there is any limitation on the number of times you can install as long as it's to one of those 3 PCs.

I suspect you could install to a fourth PC if you first un-installed from A, B, or C, but I don't know the formal procedure for doing that. You might have to interact with Microsoft to "de-activate" a license and then re-activate it on the fourth PC.

I think you will still be OK.

You've got 3 Office licenses. As long as you don't try to put Office on 4 machines at the same time, I think you are legal. The operating system wouldn't matter.
