Current System Rating(By lowest Subscore): 3.4

What I am looking to upgrade to:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9900 @ 3.06GHz
RAM: Max out at 8.00GB DDR3
GRAPHICS: ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 4650 (M96) with 1 GB dedicated video memory
HDD: Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB,Internal,7200 RPM,2.5" (ST750LX003) Hybrid hard drive---OR---Seagate Momentus ST1000LM024 1TB 2.5" Hard Drive SATA/300 5400RPM 8MB

Please let me know, also please let me know if I can upgrade my graphics, my laptop supports it and my board seems to support it, but can I change it? Thanks again!

Hello and welcome Sgt Kilgore mate no expert but one thing sticks out to me and that is the graphics are the blockage in the pipes as it were.

I recently asked and the way to go is with 1GB DDR5 memory and without breaking the bank a Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD5830 1GB Ultra Durable would fit the bill but I stand to be corrected on that. My choice was a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 OC 1GB in my Sandy Bridge and th equivalent Asus in my Ivy Bridge which dramatically changed my WEI. But it depends on the budget of course and again I am no expert.

The CPU you are looking at just out of interest what is that going to cost?? and I suppose if you can get one. I have Q9550 in my tester and a replacement - if I could get one would cost as much as top end i7!

The cost for the cpu is around $100-$200 depending on what deal I get. The reason I chose that graphics adapter is I am trying to stay within what this laptop can support. It's service manual mentions the above graphics adapter as being the highest so I figured that would be my best guess.

OOps I did drop one there eh KB yes I should have checked out the number of that model:o

Sgt K Having done a few just lately mate it isn't a job for the faint hearted and you mention a graphics adaptor now that is something I have only seen as built in graphics in laptops so I am of little help to you - sorry.

Plus I don't want to put a dampener on your enthusiasm my friend but it sounds expensive too - what would be the cost of an up to date laptop that would suit your needs.

Just for example if you were to spend say $350 - $400 on the bits would it not ne better off adding another $300 to get a decent i3 / 5 / 7 core model?
