You will need to turn off network discovery on all computers...

Access this from Control panel, network and sharing centre, change advanced sharing settings.

You can also find more help here.. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/185237-network-discovery-turn-off-windows-7-a.html

Hi,

You will want to start by going to your network and sharing center can be found in control panel and once that is open click on change advanced sharing settings and there you can find the settings for home or work and public networks. What you will want to do is under home or work make sure the tic is checked on Turn off network discovery, also turn off file printer sharing and turn off public folder sharing.

The home or work and public are separate because when you connect to a new network it will ask you which type of network should it belong to "home or work/public". Just makes it easier to setup home or work one way and keep it that way and public differently and maybe more secure that way you won't have to setup the settings each and every time you connect to a network, you can just choose your premade setup. Now to answer your question more directly it all depends on how you have the settings setup in the 2 choices, one could be more secure than the other.
