A useful source of random passwords is https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm

If you wish to make use of these (and I haven't, as yet), make sure that you keep a record of the password somewhere secure, such as a password locker, as they are deliberately complex and virtually impossible to remember.

It said in there that it should be 14 characters long and if you put '1' 20 times it said strong in Microsoft Password Checker because it passed the test of character length. Of course my password isn't that though

One I use most often is strong. The new one I was starting to change to is only medium. Best think of a new password to use, lol.

My regular password is "strong", and 12 characters long. The shortest "best" password came from my random password algorithm, 20 characters in length.

The regular password that I use on my PC has been marked as "Best": after all I've used a form of (but not only) leetspeek made of numbers, special characters like pipes and both uppercase and lowercase letters

Hi all
Even the most obvious of passwords is rendered almost uncrackable by typical Password "crackers" if you do something REALLY simple like prefixing a special character to your password.

Even something silly like Pa55word (note 5's not S's) is rendered very difficult to hack if you prefix it by a special character -- and even better also add another special character at the end.

Just try how long it takes your favourite Password cracker to crack

You don't need to make all sorts of random and forgettable passwords which you probably store on a mobile phone or write down somewhere.

My trick allows you to use simple passwords wrapped by special characters which usually result in a medium to STRONG password. Ensure in the main password you have has at least one Upper Case letter.

FWIW:
I have always wondered why many financial institutions and other security sites allow almost an unlimited try at entering a password. That's how those password crackers work, keep testing. I would like to see a 15-30 minute timeout after say 3 bad password trys. This way the computers who try 10,000 different passwords won't keep trying as it won't be worth their time. then after about 3 times the timeout it keeps expanding the time between trys.

Just an idea. Some financial institutions have implemented a 5 times and your out and then requires a phone call to the place to explain why you failed.
