How the Hell do you get surround sound in itunes?

Before I got hacking my system up and screwing something up I thought I would paste this out to the community and ask for some help.

I have a 5.1 Front,Center,Right and two surrounds rear left and right and want to enable surround sound in iTunes. I'm not concerned that the music is in stereo I just want it to play in all speakers if possible.

My games, etc work but all music in iTunes will only play in Left,Center,Right anyone know a way to force it to work?

No I just used the installed drivers from windows 7. Do I need to install a 3rd party add-on and is that recommended?

trying to keep un-necessary crap off this pc.

You should install the drivers for your board, if you don't have Realtek Audio then don't install Realtek drivers.

This is your Motherboard isn't it.

And they are Realtek drivers as well, which are not 3rd party by the way.

I recommend you download and install the chipset, audio and LAN drivers for your board if you want to get the most out of your computer, the generic drivers that are installed with windows are just to get you going, they are not going to optimize the performance of your computer.

thanks MR. Grim I installed them and it does work however as soon as I installed them the speakers started to pop with static and crackle unless I tunr down the speakers any Idea wht this would do that?

Im using a creative 5.1 surround system (2 years old)

Enable the bass management and also test which speaker has the bass coming out of it, for some reason I have always had to use the option to swap center /subwoofer output, I also find on the sound effects tab if you select powerful it sounds heaps better.

And I usually adjust a few things on room adjustment to get it just right, it's better to have some music playing while you do it.

Thanks again however that did not fix. However I found the fix and would like to post this in case anyone else has this problem.

Thanks to Grim I installed the correct drivers for my Motherboard (duh!) and once I did that I was getting a bunch of static whenever I did anything on the PC wiht no music playing etc. HDD, mouse moving etc.

The cause of this interference is from the PC speaker, or rather, how the pass-through of the PC speaker to the onboard audio, is implemented. The onboard audio is automatically setup to receive PC speaker signals from your motherboard and route them to the outputs. This path was not very well isolated and as a result interference (EMI) from other system components can creep in, resulting in the noisy output from your speakers.

So the solution is pretty easy. Open control panel, sound click on speakers, properties,and than the levels tab.

Turn the PC Beep slider to ZERO all the way the left and Presto no more static and all other sounds work perfect.

Hey there, I have Realtek High Definition Audio driver installed, is this software that I need to install separately? I don't have this and when I go to sound, and select my realtek HD audio (Digital Output) the configure button is disabled..

Was having an issue with iTunes not playing sound from all speakers... Speaker fill sorted this out!!!
