hi
i have a acer laptop having 500 gb hd.
It was having
100MB unallocated reserved for windows
Local Disk C -118GB OS installed (primary partition)
Local Disk D -118GB (primary partition)
Local disk E - 118GB(Primary partition)
Local disk F -118GB(primary partition)

since i want to dual boot ubuntu with windows 7 i was planning to install it on Local Disk F so i shrink the Drive F for swap area required for ubuntu.
I shrink it to 4500MB and new partition was created showing 4.5GB of space.
Then i right click on it to create new volume.
I keep on clicking next till a warning came.
I click ok to that and my whole disk got converted to Dynamic disk.

Now my problem is that my os is still booting even after converting to dynamic .
I dont know how.
Since i have only one hd how can i use Partion wizard since i can't unallocate the whole HD.
I have tried using partition wizard 4.2.2. and professional 5.0.
I click on Partition recovery wizard then press next and when next "next" cames it is greyed because i think my whole HD is not deleted or unallocated.
Deleting the whole disk is not possible since i have only one disk in my laptop obviously so is there any other way i can convert back to basic.
I don't have the backup image.
PLS hellllllllllp

I already told that i cant use those options since they are telling to delete the entire disk which is not possible in my case since i am using laptop.
Is there any other way in this world to change to basic disk because i am running out of options.
If i format the hard disk then the new installation of windows will again be installed on dynamic disk only.
SO pls is there any way to get rid of this problem.

Backup all your Data first.

Do a full clean & full format in command prompt.

Than use your Acer Recovery Disks to reinstall Windows.

Hello alikhan1991, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have a look at this.

Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk

I have already tried that option using partition wizard 4.2.2 and professional 5.0
I can't use that option since to use that one should have atleast two hard disk.
So the one containing the dynamic disk can be deleted.
Any other trick.

You need to click to highlight the Win7 HD in Partition Wizard version 4.2 only, then from Disk tab Convert to Basic.

You do not need two HD's to do this.

We have a report today that MiniTool has somehow blocked use of free conversion on 4.2 home edition. If so then download and burn the CD which is valuable to have anyway: pw422.zip ISO - Windows Live

Yes you should convert back to Basic. Dynamic is for spanning partitions over multiple HD's.

May I ask why you ignored the warning? We see it often and I always wonder why.

We are more than willing to help you help yourself. Looking at a picture and saying it won't work, is not helping yourself. You need to DL the program and actually run it on your system. The illustration has two drives but nowhere does it say two are REQUIRED.:)

It would help to post up a snip of your Disk Management so we can see what you have.
