How to change readonly file to be able to write to it?

Hi,
After having to replace a drive and re-instaling some programs, one of the programs keeps giving me an error that it cannot write to a readonly database file.

This sounds like a basic File Permissions issue ...

Go onto the New drive at root level of the area where the DB is located, there are protected areas under the Windows/Users roots that should not be touched as it could cause system issues if permissions are altered. If your system has the DB in one of these protected areas, you will need to carefully work to only change permissions on the actual folder, and are best off then moving the folder and it's contents to a user area and redirecting the DBMS to the new location

Drill down to the folder level that holds the DB, right click the folder, select security, and add your "Specific" user name and give "Full Control" and allow the system to cascade down the tree.

If the system has marked the folder level as read only, this can also be changed at this point

OK back out of your system and you should have access to the DB

The cause of this issue is due to the fact that although we keep the user name the same in most cases when changing things, the windows system used a numeric code not a name so that two Users could have the same "Name" but different codes
