Generally in any type of raid, the software or hardware wants to mark the whole drive as part of a raid, whether use use the whole drive or not. As an example, if you create a raid 5 of 500gb drives & 1 750gb drive, you will lose the 250gb on the 750 drive.
Also, the reason for a raid 0 is performance, the system can access both drives at once, if your drive is running the OS, it can't be accessed as part of a raid at the same time.
Never mind that if you lose the OS drive, you lose everything.
