Thanks, your article has exactly what I was looking for.
I followed all your instructions, but when I type into the browser: gfheiche.serverhttp.com, I get the router instead of the server.

Here is what I did:
1. Registered at no-ip.com as: gfheiche.serverhttp.com
2. Installed and used IIS7.5.
In step 5 used: Site Name: My New Site
Physical Path: C:\XYZ (just an ordinary folder)
Host address: gfheiche.serverhttp.com
3. a. Created New Inbound Rule in Windows Firewall
b. Since I have not yet figured out how to configure the exceptions in Linksys WRT310N, disabled the router firewall all together, temporarily.

But I do get the router instead of XYZ
What went wrong?

It works now:D. In 3b I configured the 2 exceptions in Linksys WRT310N by Port Forwarding port 80 to 192.168.1.xxx.
Thank you very much for the really helpful instructions

Hi,
Still one more question.
In order to function as a server, visitors to My New Site should be able to download the folder XYZ.
How can download be enabled?

Why would you need visitors to download the folder? I've got my own site set-up this way and only give access the the index aspx/htm/php file, which is the site homepage.

P.S sorry for the late reply :p

Not any visitor but authorized ones. There are many reasons for wanting the possibility to download from my website. For example, hotmail limits attachments to 10MB, so if I want to send an XYZ greater than 10MB, I put it on my server?

Can it be done in principle?
