Hello,

Well my system is messed up again. Can't even access the DVD/CD Drive, just don't show up on my system.

Messed up my NET connection so im using my Cousin's Win7 Laptop to create.

Im using the tutorial on your site: Make ISO file from Win7 Install DVD , but I just dont see how to
create the ISO image when I have 3 recovery disks from Toshiba? Do I create 3 ISO's with them disks and when creating the Single ISO it was collect from all 3 to make my Install USB ??

Last year I had a post about installing my system on an SSD. That is the drive i'll be using.

I have ImgBurn, ISO-2-USB and RUFUS all ready to use.

H E L P !!

1) Is it more complicated to create from the Disks I have? I know I should have ordered now the USB version but being Stupid, I saved the $10.00 :o
I know I have all the bloatware and all on them, but what about all the drivers those disks have that I don't have saved?

2) Im on that Softlay sight now, downloading withe Chrome; (IE isn't updated yet to v11)

Those disks are basically a disk image of windows, it`s on 3 discs probably because they are cd`s no ??

I don`t think the driver installers are on those discs. Get them from Toshiba, AMD etc.

Yes 1-3 ...

I don`t think the driver installers are on those discs. Get them from Toshiba, AMD etc.
That's why I thought would be easier to use them disks and create the USB stick.

Well I got that ISO image and burned to a USB. I got the drivers from Toshiba site, but not sure what to do with them. Do I put the installers on the USB also?

(I'd still like to put them Disks onto a USB, just incase)

I did make that ISO image, took like 4 hours to just download it, the ISO creation was quick tho.

Got xtra USB's still :)

Hi Sherrie,

W7 comes driver complete, so your system will be up and running straightaway.

All you need todo to update, Toshiba wise
Go to the homepage for your make/model install ONLY Toshiba's Service station
It will scan your comp and provide a list of drivers to update.

BIG NOTE
after your system is updated use Macrium (free) to create an image

Windows 7 is not driver complete, not by a long shot, especially on a laptop.

Sherri, you install the drivers on Windows 7 so that all your hardware works.

Open Device Manager and look for any yellow triangles, if so that means those items still need the drivers installed.

Type dev into the search box, device manager should come up near the top of the list.

Now that you`ve created a W7 usb installer, you can also add your favorite software installers to it. Some installers will quickly become outdated and some you will want to keep no matter what new version comes out. Newer does not always mean better :)

GOSH, I'm so overwhelmed with it all I've been just keeping the Cousin's laptop updated.

I did get that USB made, just have a separate stick for the drivers. Should that be put on same stick? or will it conflict with the Bootup when installing ? That drive is the SSD. Do I have to prep it somehow? Or I gather the USB takes care of that?

Nope just install Windows it will do everything for you.

If the usb stick has the room you can put all those driver installers on it if you want, but just leave them on the other stick. Sometimes when you transfer driver installers to another device they become corrupt.

Note for the future, the only driver you really have to worry about getting before hand is the network (ethernet) drivers for that particular PC. So you can install them and get online to run windows update.

But you did a great job getting all those drivers and practice makes perfect, you are learning and that is very good, rep given for your great effort.

The next thing we want to hear is that have you W7 installed :)

Well I'm just reading this and gonna go ahead and try to install.

Only thing is it's not that HP one and the Install link you suggested. But once I get my DVD drive working again I can burn their disks to USB also.

Tks 4 the pep talk AddRAM :D

Tks to torchwood and TrustMe for your input as well.

Hi Sherri,

YOU DONT need to burn the Iso to a USB,
download the image - save it
download the tool, Iso-2-Usb
insert USB - make a note of the drive letter
run the USB tool - select the Iso image path - it will pull it to the USB
MAKE sure that your saving it to the USB, NOT C, usually E or F.

DONE

Once your up and running and have updated your system
MAKE an Image, most here use Macrium free
(takes about 15/20 mins to restore your system)

Well, got Win7_x64 Home premium installed. Not all my settings and programs re-installed yet (Got some family situations going on, so it's been a slow process)

N-E-WHO, I've followed up things with Belarc advisor and looks like I probally got 2 Win Updates not installed yet. Would that matter with my Activating my Windows copy? I got rejected tonight. Got to get that log here and will post. OR ** should I do that under new message in that other forum page about Activation problems?

Oh got 14 days left to do so

Hello Megahertz07

Nope I got the right Key from my Laptop. I didn't install the Toshiba backup, used an Online ISO without all the Bloatware. I also have changed the HDD to an SDD last year. Im lost for the next step and now I get a popup about the activation can't remember what it says, but will grab a Screenshot next time it happens. Does it randomly

Nope I got the right Key from my Laptop. I didn't install the Toshiba backup, used an Online ISO without all the Bloatware.

There are two ways for you to activate.

1) Use the COA key from a sticker on your machine case ( often under the battery).

Or

2) Use the SLP key and xml cert that is included in the Toshiba installation/recovery media.

If you use a key found by a keyfinder program such as Belarc, that will not work.

Ok, I did use the COA key it's on bottom of my Laptop, it's that blue & white tagand says "Product Key"
Never heard of the SLP key and xml Cert. I have them 3 disks I ordered from Toshiba lastyear but they can't be read for some reason UNLESS there only if you Boot from them.

I have a copy of that Windows Validation Data, but I don't understand how to read it...

:(

*** NOTE: I thought I had written down the KEY, just noticed the KEY is a different Number on the Laptop than the one I had saved from previous programs I used and Belarc GRRRRR....

Gonna try now :o
