How to deal with System 5 Error?

I would if I could but I can't!

Testnet is not available when Windows starts. I can log-in as Malcolm and the other option is Other User that requests a user name and password. Who, what or where from Other User is I have no idea. It appeared when I created the administrator Testnet.

Try from safe mode?

Because if you created the TestNet account, you should be able to login with it...

Thank you; I agree that I should be able to log-in as Testnet but in Safe Mode there is no change to the logon screen nor to Control Panel | User Accounts facilities. All the behaviours remain as before.

In the further search on System Error 5 I have found diverse references that amongst other problems include programme installation. But I do not have an understanding of the nature of the error. That it is related to permissions and rights is evident. The remedy is somewhat elusive and perhaps related to Will o'the Wisp! :)

I have resolved the issues in my OP with a boot disk and off-line NT password and registry editor from Offline NT Password & Registry Editor So I am having a nice day catching up!

My thanks and appreciation to the contributors to this thread; your interest and messages have been very much appreciated.

Your first order of business should be to "upgrade" you regular user account from Standard to Administrator
