How to delete xp, but keep boot manager

I got everything over, when I realized the boot manager is installed to the C: xp drive. How can I move it to the w7 so I can delete that partition? I got windows 7 Pro.

edit: It also wont let me delete the xp partition or format it.

edit2: Ok I had to install to a partition via windows xp. It refused to boot the dvd, and only got this far.

I do not really understand what happened here.

If you wanted to make the Win 7 partition the system partition and boot to it, you have to make it active.

And it has to be the first active partition seen by your system during boot. Which means it needs to be the primary drive in the bios or at least the only active partition on the system.

Then you need to put the boot files on that partition which you can do by doing a repair install 2 or 3 times, or while in Win 7 and using its drive letter, open an administrative command prompt and type the command below followed by enter.

bcdboot C:\Windows /s C:

Wait for a response, then you should be able to boot to the Win 7 install.

If your edit statement means you are in some type of no boot situation, please explain. You may have to use Diskpart or a third party partitioning software to mark the Win 7 partition as active.

I wanted to delete my windows xp partition, but the boot manager was installed to that partition. If I delete it, no boot, because I had installed w7 to a partition not set as a system. I got passed that screen hang. It was due to floppy disc being on in bios even though I dont have one existing. Disabling it worked and I did a repair install. Everything is cool now

Please post back a screenshot of your full Disk management drive map, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, attach file using Paper Clip in Reply Box.

We can give you the exact steps to delete XP, recover its System Active MBR and disk space into Win7 partition if that is what you want.

But I already said I deleted the XP partition and did a repair install. Now its installed properly. I noticed that it now keeps the boot manager on its own partition. In my disc management I see 100mb system partition without a letter, and it seems to contain bot boot. Microsoft really 1uped that system from the rc2.
