how to display CHINESE characters in programs

i installed the chinese language pack through the update, and changed the setting of "non-unicode" program in regional settings to chinese. yet when i open windows media player, all my chinese songs are in symbols. like%^&(*&

need some help.

You would need to switch the hole language of the user to "Chinese".
Or, try with applocale, and use it to run WMP in "chinese mode".

Control Panel->Change Keyboards or other input methods->Administrative->Change System Locale->Pick Chinese Simplified PRC etc or Traditional Taiwan etc based on your needs. It seems like you already did this but Chinese mp3s are showing up correctly under wmp for me.

You also need to add things like Chinese (simplified / traditional), Korean and other fonts.

You don't actually need the language packs themselves to display the fonts correctly.

hey, i got a problem also. after i install win 7, its can show Chinese words in fb or other things. then i install kuwo music box, its cant show Chinese at the Desktop icon, and the 360antivirus also then same problem. it show the symbol like @!##%$%@#.

so, how to change into Chinese words?
